PASSION (PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP)
Since its establishment, the parent support group in Chongfu named PASSION which stands for ‘Parents Assisting School Successfully and Investing in the future of Our Nation’ has been rendering support in various school programmes.
In 2004, under the leadership of the chairperson, Mrs Ellie Loh, more ‘mothers’ came forward to actively and generously support the school programmes. They helped to look after Primary 1 and 2 pupils every Wednesday so as to free up time for the teachers to attend the Contact Time. Various activities such as reading, drawing and storytelling were conducted to meaningfully engage the pupils. The group recognised the importance of building a close partnership with the school to help support the school’s effort in providing a holistic education for the pupils.
Our existing chairperson, Mdm Lisa Ng, has been leading the school’s PSG since 2007. One of the key programmes the parents have come together to set up is the Parent Support for Mathematics (PSM) to assist graduating pupils who require more attention in their Mathematics. Other programmes that have been initiated include Reading Programme and conducting activities for Staff Wellness Day and Health for Life. The school appreciates their strong support for school events like Mass Run, Teachers’ Day, NE events and P1 Registration Exercise.
With the restructuring of PASSION into the 4 wings – Social, Support, Expertise and Class Liaison, parents would be able to provide targeted support for school programmes to better cater to the needs of our pupils.
PASSION aims to strengthen its partnership with the school through greater collaboration and more effective communication so as to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils.
PASSION aims to contribute to the 3 different groups in the following ways:
PASSION aims to foster close ties with the school through supporting the school programmes. PASSION also aims to provide the school with constructive and valuable feedback, and enhance teacher-parent communication.
PASSION aims to serve as a bridge between the school and the parents, help parents better understand the school policies and goals. In addition, PASSION enables parents to have a better understanding of parenting issues, and provide a warm and friendly environment for them to share their experiences with one another.
PASSION aims to create a conducive learning environment for our children. Through showing support and interest in our children’ school life, we hope to develop positive attitudes and social behaviour in our children.
In 2013, PASSION was re-organised into 4 wings: –
SOCIAL Wing: Members plan and organize celebratory events on three levels:
2) PASSION + CF STAFF
3) PASSION + CF PARENTS & PUPILS
E.g. Chinese New Year Celebration, Racial Harmony Day and Teachers’ Day Celebration; bonding & well-being activities for the school’s staff and PASSION.
SUPPORT Wing: Members provide operational and administrative support to the School’s key programmes and regular activities; P1 Registration & Orientation; Canteen & Road Safety; Excursions and School Camps.
EXPERTISE Wing: Members contribute by imparting their knowledge and expertise to the School. They may be involved in Reading Programme, Remedial Programme; Learning Support Programmes; Career Talks; Consultancy; IT and Infrastructure.
CLASS LIAISON Wing: Members are the representative for their child’s class to communicate matters between the class’ form teacher and the rest of the parents.
